How to Compare Snapshots
FolderScope lets you see how your files and folders change over time by comparing snapshots of your folder structure and file types. Here’s how to use it:
Navigate to the folder you wish to monitor and run an initial scan.
Click File > Save Snapshot. Save the snapshot file (.fsnap) somewhere safe.
Later, after files or folders have changed, return to FolderScope and load your saved snapshot via File > Load Snapshot.
Now click File > Compare Snapshots. FolderScope will scan the current folder again and display:
Differences in file type sizes (e.g. .exe files grew by 50 MB)
Changes in individual folder sizes
Review differences directly inside the comparison grids. You can also export the comparison to JSON, CSV, or plain text for reporting.
Snapshots are perfect for tracking disk usage growth, spotting new files, or investigating what changed after software installations or updates.
